Have you ever thought of looking at repo motorcycles to buy as an alternative to the normal new or used option? If you haven’t, then take my advice and check out the idea. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with what you will find.
Not only are there repo motorcycles but also boats, cars, trucks, campers and more that can be found at auction houses around the country. These bikes and autos have usually been repossessed because people have not been able to repay their loans for what ever reason. Because of this the finance companies repossess the vehicles and then use auction houses to sell them to the highest bidder.
If you are one of the many people who consider your bike as invaluable as your family, then we know you’re head over heels. We may be judged heavily for this perception but you might even be willing to dump your partner just so you could spend time riding and caring for your bike… though, we hope you are not that obsessed.
Of course, once you’ve discovered the thrill and speed of the open road, there’s really nothing quite alike the exuberance you felt. Eventually, it will not only be a way to travel for you, it becomes a way of life. Many other motorcycle enthusiasts discover these at certain stages after acquiring their motorcycles. You find these dedicated enthusiasts like yourself all over the country.
In a nutshell, Repo Auctions are where repossessed property items are sold by a financial houses to help repay the debt when the consumer defaults on a credit agreement. This is usually done in accordance with a purchase contract or credit contract, in which the consumer agrees that the seller may repossess the object if, say, the consumer is more than sixty days late making an installment payment.
Repossessed property can take many forms, in particular, cars, trucks, campers, boats, motorcycles, real estate, art. Financial houses need to sell this property fast, and this is where Repo Auctions come into being.
To most riders, motorcycle helmets do not fit into their dream accessory. They feel helmets are restrictive and unnecessary and do not add to their aesthetic appeal. But it is important to know why you need to wear a helmet while riding a bike and what it does for you.
Motorcycle helmets act as a protection device for your head. Nearly all motor crashes in which riders do not wear helmets, result in major head injuries. To drive this point further, according to a survey done in the state of California, in 900 crashes, there were 980 head and neck injuries. The major factor was that most riders were not wearing proper headgear.
Contrary to what many believe, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) motorcycle parts are not inherently better than aftermarket motorcycle parts. Like any product in a dynamic marketplace, aftermarket motorcycle parts manufacturers often find a way to improve upon the performance or the look of the part. A comparison of the two types of parts is often contrary to what many people assume.
OEM Motorcycle Parts:
Speeding is illegal, yet we sell racing motorcycles and cars which are so powerful and look so intimidating that a police man could write the owner a ticket even if it were parked. Take today’s crotch rocket, nearly all of these motorcycles can barely get out of second or third gear going sixty miles per hour. We complain when our teenagers drive these bikes like they are meant to be driven. Silly of us to think that anyone is going to drive these bikes and never speed?
Any one who has ever gotten on a race bike and felt the acceleration knows that such temptation is just to great. Once you give it some throttle you want to take it thru the gears. Yet, if you do choose to take it thru all the gears and redline the sixth or last gear you find yourself often over 135 miles per hour even on a 600 CC race bike. On the 750’s and 1000 plus CC race bikes you are well over 160 miles per hour at redline. Those of us who dare know that you must really pay attention when you are going at such speeds while sitting out in the open, namely you need to hang on.
“If you are going to do something, be the best” Ginichi Kawakami, Yamaha Motor Company First President.
Yamaha Motorcycles, under this motto, employing all its creativity, and with a very strong spirit of challenge, became what it is now: one of the biggest players in the worldwide motorcycling scene.
It is best and most advisable to look in the local papers, motorcycle weekly papers and bike magazines for used motorcycles. Used motorcycles are cheaper than new ones, and are the answer for anyone who wants a motorcycle but cannot afford a new one. Sometimes people buy used motorcycles just to get a feel of riding before buying the right motorcycle.
When buying a used motorcycle, it is better to check the body of the bike carefully for signs of rust or poor maintenance. Peeling paintwork with tape on the seat signifies repairs done on the bike, and you should think twice before buying the bike, unless it is got at a real bargain. Make sure that the tires have thread on them, as motorcycle tires cost more than car tires. Check to see if the chain is well oiled, and also check the exhaust for signs of rust on the underside of the muffler. Always take a used motorcycle for a test ride before buying it. If the owner doesn’t agree to this, then don’t buy the bike because some problems are only apparent when ridden.
A motorcycle is a two-wheeled vehicle that moves with the help of an engine. The two wheels are situated in-line where the rider of the motorcycle sits on a seat with his hands placed on a set of handlebars. It is through these handlebars that the rider steers the motorcycle. The accelerator and brakes that are found on the handle bar control the speed of the motorcycle. The rider supports his feet on a set of foot pegs that project from the frame of the motorcycle.
There are many types of motorcycles available. They mainly differ in their engine capacities and weight. It is always better to buy a heavier motorcycle, as it can withstand collisions with less damage to the bike and the rider. Those who can’t afford new motorcycles can always buy a used one. There are even motorcycles designed for children. They are called mini motorcycles. Those wanting a unique motorcycle can buy a custom made one that is designed according to specifications.
To really understand the women and her ride, one needs to go back in history to explore the courageous women who defied the norm and road their horses in the freedom of the wind. Who could forget Joan of Arc or Annie Oakley. Two completely different women who followed their own council and fought for their right to ride in a man’s world. Or the women warlords who fought while on horseback and brandished their swords with the best of them. (and yes, women really did that) What man could resist such a women?
Women’s love affair with the motorcycle began with the bicycle back in the 1800’s. They became hugely popular with women. Susan B. Anthony once said, “A bicycle has done more for the emancipation of women more than any other thing in this world”.
When you’re buying a motorcycle you need to know about bikes, but you also need to know about how to buy a bike, and that has nothing to do with engines and manufacturing. One important detail where a lot of people that purchase motorcycles go wrong is getting the right loan.
How much the loan agent is willing to loan you is a good way to figure out what kind of bike you can afford to buy. Prices vary a lot between different models, and at the beginning of the year when new models come out they are generally more expensive than at the end of the year when dealers are trying to get rid of old inventory to make space for the next year’s models. But through all this one thing remains constant, and that is the fact that if you don’t have the cash, you’re going to need a loan. Don’t fall for the tricks. Remember that you have alternatives to purchasing a loan from the dealer. Don’t get caught up in the pressure to buy a bike and forget that this deal is really all about money. You can go to the bank, the Internet, or to a credit union and apply for a loan, so don’t let anyone push you around.

As I am writing this article I am thinking of the recent accident involving the Pittsburg Steelers star quarterback, “Big Ben” Roethlisberger. If he had been wearing a helmet his injuries would not have been nearly as severe.
For most of us bikers a helmet just doesn’t fit our perception of what biking is all about, which is freedom! I mean, hey it just doesn’t look cool to be on a hog with that little sissy helmet. But, I think it looks way less cool to have your face all scarred up from sliding on it down the road!

Motor scooters are vehicles with small wheels and a low-powered gasoline engine geared to the rear wheel. The first patents for “foot powered” scooters date back to 1921. Up to that time there were no motors attached to the scooter. They were propelled by “foot power.”
The old-fashioned foot-powered push scooter was updated to a Razor motor scooter under the direction of Gino Tsai, whose father was a mechanical engineer for the J. D. Corporation in Shanghai, Taiwan. His motor scooter took about 5 years to design.
It would seem to me that over the past four years and with the advent of lame bike shows on TV, that every one now is a professional bike builder. Here in Mass I can remember having to drive hours from my home to get the smallest parts. Now its a simple matter of walking or driving twenty minutes to find a local shop. About a week ago I spent a day traveling to several bike shops in the area.
These shops claimed to be custom fab and paint shops but all carried pre assembled bikes. At one shop I noticed a sign that charged ninety dollars per hour for sheet metal work yet they had no equipment what so ever to bend or shape the smallest piece. After talking to the owner he had mentioned to me that he could build me a gas tank for 2,800 but would take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery from their “out source tank builder”. I don’t know about everyone else but I am what you would call a neat freak. and I couldn’t believe the disrepair and general “messiness” of these so called professional shops.
You’re cruising down your favorite country road on what started out to be a text-book-perfect day for riding. Without warning, the sky turns an ominous shade of grey. A huge menacing cloud , swollen and black, suddenly releases a torrent of rain. In a matter of moments you’re drenched and shivering from the cold….
Like most seasoned bikers, I’ve been searching in vain for the the ideal rain-gear to protect myself from the elements without having to compromise on freedom of movement. Luckily a few months back, a friend, who is an avid horseback rider, turned me on to the perfect solution. The oilskin coat:
