Automotive Tip: Before You Replace The Brakes, Check Your Tires

For months, I had gone from one mechanic to another, seeking to understand why my car was making a scraping sound when I applied pressure to my brakes. The mechanics assured me that the problem was not the brakes. Yet, the problem grew worse.

The scraping sound was like a phantom. It was elusive at best. One moment it was so loud that other drivers would stare as my car moved past them. The next moment, there was no sound at all.

16 Ways to Drive More and Use Less Gas

1. CHOOSE LOWER OCTANE FUEL. Unless you have a high performance vehicle, there is no reason to purchase high-octane gas. Contrary to popular belief, putting higher priced fuel into your car does not benefit your cars engine or daily performance. Choose a lower octane, lower priced fuel instead.

2. USE THE A/C SPARINGLY. The more you used the air conditioner, the more gas is being used up.

Bugatti Veyron: A Driving Experience of a Lifetime

For many years the Mclaren F1 was the fastest road car in the world, but changes have been a foot over the last few years. The latest to challenge this top spot is the Bugatti Veyron. Made by Volkswagen this is likely to be the best driving experience from a road car you will get in your lifetime.

Ferdinand Piech the boss of VW came up with the idea of producing a car with 1000 horsepower that could do over 200mph, for those where money was no object. The outrageous price tag of £700,000 or approx $1,100,000, is only compounded by the fact it costs considerably more to make. Yes VW, will be loosing millions of dollars to sell this car, which is why the opinion is, that no other manufacturer would build a road car you could buy, that would match this performance and style.

Driving This Winter - You Were Warned!

Well winter is here and we were warned. Back in October the TV weather teams told us that this winter would be the worst for many years. Some quoted the worst for 10 years and some did the usual and quoted the worst ever.

Already we have seen the gridlock in the UK and many motorists stranded overnight as they were caught out by snowstorms. The next day the TV weather teams are on the news saying we told you so, and for once I am on their side. So the message for this winter when driving is this, make sure you check the weather reports regularly, at least each night before you go to bed. If it states snow then be prepared the next morning to leave earlier or have plans to cancel.

Durable Replacement Parts for the Toyota Lexus LS430 Now Available at Parts Train

The LS430 is a large, rear-drive sedan, powered by a 4.3-litre, dual overhead cam V8 pumping out 207kW of power and 417Nm of torque. Chief designer of the Lexus LS430, Makoto Ooshima, told American industry journal automotive News the car’s design was inspired by the Japanese bullet train as the car was tested in the same wind tunnel. The maker claims the LS430 is the most aerodynamic sedan in the world, with a drag coefficient of 0.25. (An average family sedan is 0.32.)

The 2005 Toyota Lexus LS 430 has powered door-closing system, which pulls the doors tight against the seals. The headlight beams swivel by 15 degrees left or right to follow the road according to speed and steering input and there’s a reversing camera that transmits images to a 7in screen that also displays sat-nav information. Voice recognition technology responds to about 300 commands for the navigation, audio and air-conditioning, while Bluetooth technology permits cable-free use of mobile phones and the like. A tyre pressure monitoring system is low-tech in comparison.

The Breakdown Recovery Man

It was a cold morning this morning, with –4c registered on my car dashboard. I already knew it was a cold one as I had spent 15 minutes just clearing the windscreen of frost and ice. As I drove out of the estate where I live, the traffic inevitably slowed down to a halt as everyone expected to get from A to B in the same time as yesterday; a warmer day.

A breakdown recovery van with flashing lights is parked next to me now with a relieved driver, driving away in her repaired car. I pulled down my window and politely said to the man “cold morning”, he politely replied, “freezing night”. It as at this point a bolt hit me of what these guys actually do for a living.

Get Your Car Ready for Winter

Driving in winter conditions tests your car to the limit. If something isn’t working properly under the best conditions it certainly isn’t going to work when it’s cold and stormy. Here are some tips to keep your car running well in the winter.

The first thing to check before the weather gets cold is the anti freeze level. Not only how much fluid is in the radiator, but also the ratio of antifreeze/water content. Have a tune up done. Have your spark plugs cleaned and re- gapped or replaced.

Get Paid To Drive Your Car

You may have heard rumors that it’s possible to get paid to drive your car, or in some cases, get a car to use for free. While participation is limited and luck is needed along with living in the right place for a particular campaign, it is possible to get paid to have your car (or a car given to you) turned into a moving advertisement. If you drive 800 miles or more a month along heavily populated routes in your normal driving habits, you may want to check out the companies that offer car wraps.

The concept is fairly simple. Advertising space on billboards along busy roads and highways is limited and in some places not allowed at all. It’s possible, however, to reach many of those people another way. Companies advertise on the outside of cars to reach those same people. The problem is that purchasing an entire fleet of cars for an advertising campaign can be overly expensive, so a solution was developed.

Keep Your Auto Running Better By Making Sure Your Automobile Tires Are In Good Shape

If you are driving your car and you hear a rattle in the engine then you would probably take it to the garage to see what was wrong with it, or if you were good with cars then you might go home and take a look yourself. But if your tires were going down or the tread was wearing thin then you would not usually know until something went wrong. Either the tire blew up or went completely flat, or if the tread was going then you might skid on a wet road. So it is essential that you do regular maintenance on your tires and keep checking them, as then you will know that they are in good condition and that you do not need to worry.

One of the things that you should check regularly, is the amount of tread on the tire. The tread on the tire is there to allow the water from the road to go away from the tire, so that the section of the tire that is in contact with the road will not get water between it and the road. This is known as aqua planing. This is where the water gets between the tire and the road and the automobile tires are not in contact with the road and so can slide. This can mean that you do not have any braking or steering, so it is essential to make sure that the tread on your automobile tires is good. Automobile tires will usually wear more on one side or section. Some people move them around to compensate for this, but that does mean that all of the tires will wear out at the once and you will have to replace them all at the same time.
