Specialty license plates are one of the hottest items at the present in countless areas around the nation, and it is not so difficult to perceive why. Think about it. Whatever model your vehicle is, any other driver on the highway has, in all probability, seen hundreds if not thousands of the same car in his or her lifetime. But with custom license plates, it does not matter because you can be recognized in any case. If you have a only one of its kind and ingenious license plate, then you will be at the very least the individual one in your state to exhibit that individual message. That gets you noticed, and who does not desire to be noticed? I sure know that I do.
Some of my preferred license plates are the ones where the lettering form remarkable patterns. I saw one that went something similar to “wvwvwvw” on one occasion. Know, looking back on this vanity license plate, I believe that whoever got it did so just to bamboozle the cops, but nevertheless, it was pretty cool. What is even cooler, though, is the custom front plates that you can use in some states. In California where I reside, you are required by law to have the same state issued license plates on both the front and the back of your vehicle or truck, but in numerous places this is not the case. You can in point of fact have anything you desire as your front license plate, and that is where you can allow your imagination run wild and have a lot of fun.
So you’re cruising down the freeway in your Porsche 911 Turbo. You’ve got the sun roof open and the breeze in your hair. You’re stoked that it’s Friday and the weekend lies ahead. All is ideal. But, then it happens. You hear this infuriating noise struggling to drown out your CD player. You shoot a quick glimpse in your rearview mirror, and your perfectly contented face turns to a loose scowl. We all know what that means. You’re being pulled over. Not those maddening red and blue lights again. Possibly you switch lanes and hope he goes away, but it turns out he’s in fact pursuing you. Ah, those fantastic speeding tickets. You were merely going 76 in a 65. Or perhaps you were merely vying to keep up with the flow of traffic. At this point, no matter what you do, don’t say “thank you” after he passes you the ticket.
If there’s merely one certainty in life, it’s this; we all hate speeding tickets. I don’t care who you are or how well-off you are, no one desires miserable speeding tickets. I can bring to mind the first time I received one. I was 19 years old, cruising home from college in my neat modest Mazda Miata. Those are enjoyable cars by the way. Unfortunately cops are constantly looking out for sports cars. Red and black appear to get it the worst. So I was pulled over and dreading the unavoidable speeding ticket. In spite of of how much I hoped, I still got stuck with it. Now what to do? Well, after conversing with my big brother concerning speeding tickets, I decided to show up in court and plead it out. Conclusively my court date arrived. I have to confess that I was truly nervous. Luckily the judge turned out to be somewhat benign. I pleaded with her and she said it will not go on my record. I ended up paying a ticket fee and court costs, but that was the end of it. I was pleased I showed up in court as opposed to merely sending in a payment. When it comes to speeding tickets, you plainly and simply don’t need them. They cause your insurance to sky-rocket. That’s not good for the old bank account.

The National Highway and Traffic Safety estimates that of the 26 million 15 - 20 year olds, 7500 of them will be involved in “fatal” car accidents. Of the reasons cited are inexperience, risk taking behavior and immaturity. All of these lead to a greater exposure for car accidents.
The fact is, automobile accidents are a serious problem for teenagers. Safety experts are trying to change that by educating teens about the choices they make when they get behind the wheel or ride in a vehicle with other teens.
One may think; “well it’s just a flashlight, why do I need to worry about what kind I have”. While that is true, knowing the difference between a regular flashlight and a batteryless flashlight can really make you see things under a different light (pun intended).
In this day and age, you can never be too prepared. In addition to a regular high-power flashlight, you should also have at least a couple of batteryless flashlights handy in your car. “Why?”; you ask? It never hurts to be ready for the unknown. Let’s say you’re driving down a dark, lonely road and, God forbid, your car breaks down. Your car’s lights will only do so much while you wait for help. You may need to check something in the hood or under the car, whatever the case may be, you will need light.
Everywhere you go you will see them - headlights and I’m not talking about girls headlights like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson have. Plastic ones on your car. The problem is that most aren’t very clear and are unsafe and in need of replacement or repair.
“An average of 9 out of every 10 cars on the road today has dirty or yellowed headlights that greatly reduce vision and need to be replaced, cleaned, and/or repaired.” -AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
According to the National Institute for Highway Safety, the number and severity of auto accidents increases 10 fold between the hours of 11 pm and 3 am. Here are proven tips to decrease your chances of an accident. Some of this may sound like common sense, but you wouldn’t believe how many people don’t follow these tips.
1) Stay home. Don’t go out unless you have to. Even if you implement every safety tip below, you still run a higher risk of running into someone who isn’t following these tips or is driving drunk. Every night there are reports of people killed by a drunk driver that were on there way home - it isn’t worth it. If you don’t need to go out, don’t.
Truck batteries are a type of lead-acid battery which powers not just trucks but the majority of automotive equipment such as cars, wheelchairs, tractors, and motorcycles. These type of batteries are shaped similar to a rectangle and have sulfuric acid in them which if exposed to the skin burns it on contact.
Recycling is the top way of the disposal of truck batteries as there are numerous components to the battery which can be used again.
Several studies have recently taken place on road and driving safety at leading universities and the Institute for Highway and Traffic Safety. These studies show that many accidents can be avoided. Also, these studies have shown that the severity of accidents that cannot be avoided can be greatly reduced. Below are the results of the studies and tips that will help increase your driving safety.
First, dirty or scratched windshields and headlights are a big safety risk. If you receive glare from an oncoming car and cannot see due to a dirty windshield your risk of having an accident is greatly increased. Dirty or scratched windshields will actually reflect the light causing more glare and possibly blinding your vision. It is a good idea to properly clean your windshield every time you fill up. Many service stations have windshield washing fluid and brushes free for you to use. It is also a good idea to check your headlights.
Car safety is extremely important. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 42,636 people died in car accident sin 2004. Driving a car can be dangerous, but proper car safety could have helped prevent at least some of these deaths.
Items of car safety:
Over the years, the minimization of vehicular related accidents has been gaining ground. In fact, different sectors of society have contributed to ensure that motorists should be protected from unnecessary road mishaps. The government, car manufacturers, and even motorists and passengers themselves have been conscientious about this, making plans and creating devices in order to decrease the possibility of road hazards.
There have been countless pieces of legislation enacted by the government in order to ensure the reduction of vehicular accidents. The government has enacted a law about the use of seatbelts. There is also a prescribed speed limit for vehicles. Even the use of alcoholic beverages has been banned if a person has been designated to drive a vehicle. Car manufacturers, on the other hand, have devised various ingenious mechanisms to reduce the impact of collision and accidents. Brakes, tires, air bags, safety belts, seat belts are among the many things added into a car to ensure the safety of its users and passengers. These and many others are cautious steps and devices designed in order to curb road and vehicular accidents.
Volvo has long been attributed with being the number one automobile manufacturer when it comes to vehicular safety and rightly so. As an inventor of “crumple zones” and “safety cages” to protect passengers, Volvo set the tone for worldwide auto building for the next several generations. Indeed, the auto industry owes much to Volvo’s many safety contributions. Not to be lost in all of this is the work that Mercedes-Benz has been doing to improve passenger safety too. Taking the Volvo concept one step further, Mercedes now incorporates several technological advances with their vehicles in order to provide the safest riding experience available. Let’s take a look at Mercedes’ PRE-SAFE system and how it can protect you and your passengers.
I must admit that the first time I heard about Mercedes’ new safety system I had thought that it was something that was still years away from becoming available. How wrong I was! The PRE-SAFE system, as it is called, is a terrific way to enhance passenger safety and one that should be adopted by other automakers. Yes, I am sure that it isn’t a cheap system but as it is with so many technological advances the price is bound to drop and the system or something like it will become widely available across the board.
Regular car care is very important. Not only will it save you money down the road, but it will also make driving your car much safer, right now. The majority of car breakdowns could have been prevented if the owners of the cars had simply maintained their cars better. Regular car care can help prevent the possibility of you being stranded on the side of the road.
Keeping regular care of your car can also help you increase your gas mileage. A car that has been poorly maintained will not run as well as one that as been maintained regularly. Simply taking your vehicle in for maintenance can greatly help you improve your gas mileage.
What is the safest, a forward or rear facing child safety seat? Everyone has a different answer on this and many states have different laws governing the age, weight or size of the child or infant in question. By looking at and interpreting car accident reports and data it is an obvious finding that the severity of accidents were reportedly lower when a rear facing child safety seat was used properly.
It is important to say when used properly here as data from fire department personnel through the years shows upwards of 50% of child safety seats are not properly installed. This could be as simple as the belt tensioner not being pulled tight enough, but there have been instances where the child was sitting on top of the restraints (the restraints were only protecting the seat in this instance and not the child). The latest most famous instance of abuse of child safety seat laws is Britney Spears driving with her child in her lap. There is a lot of literature available on how to properly install and adjust a child safety seat, but more needs to be done to reduce unnecessary injuries due to improperly installed child safety seats.
Airbags have been all made available for many vehicles for a long time running. In fact, the United States government has made sure that these would be made standard for vehicles. This has become reality for in July 11, 1984, the US government has already required all cars to airbags for the driver’s side at least. Come 1998, it was later on mandated that all vehicles should contain airbags in the front end of the vehicle.
Insurance agencies and companies have come up with results that drivers and passengers who would like to have greater protection during crashes would benefit greatly from side airbags. In fact, this is just a recent study and was reported only last April 15, 2006. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has also found that, indeed, these side airbags have been beneficial and really helpful during side impact crashes.
