The Top Ten Autos of 2005

Each year experts in the automobile industry come up with their lists of the top ten vehicles of the year. Some experts put the vehicles through a series of tests, while others create their lists purely on market and consumer response. Vehicle choice is certainly a personal one, but experts like Cars.com, Consumer Reports magazine, Automobile magazine, and Car and Driver magazine, are certainly worth listening to. What did they have to say this year?

Well, the Cars.com list of most popular vehicles in 2005 was topped by the Honda Civic. Cars.com analyzes the vehicular market to come up with the most popular new car models based on consumer interest (i.e. on the number of email requests for price quotes sent to dealers) and not car tests. Here’s their top ten list for 2005:

Advanced Driving For Young Drivers

There are many excellent reasons to put your learning hat back on and seek out a local instructor for advanced driving lessons. After passing our tests many of us still feel as though there is something missing and actually plucking up the courage to get behind the wheel and pull out onto a major road can be a terrifying ordeal. It can also be quite frightening to venture out in pouring rain or blustering winds for new, young drivers.

It is a great idea to work yourself into driving gradually. Perhaps you could get a friend or family member that has a few years of driving under their belt to sit with you for the first couple of road excursions. Make sure that you don’t plan any long, gruelling cross country trips straight away. Also, stick to minor roads and just get used to being among other traffic and master being in full control of your vehicle.

You Have A Legitimate Insurance Claim But You Foolishly Got Yourself A Legal Begal - - Now What?

YOU MUST STAY ON TOP OF THAT HOUND DOG FOR TWO HUGE REASONS: First because that’s the only way to make sure he does his job correctly. If you don’t watch him like a hawk you could end up on the short end of a very long stick! And second, because most Legal Beagles think they’re overworked (if you don’t think so just ask them!) and they incorrectly feel they don’t have the time to spend on your case today, tomorrow or even six months from now. The truth is you’ve signed his Contingency Fee Agreement so he knows you’re in his back pocket and someday, when he decides to make his move, you’re still locked in. Most have convinced themselves they’re too busy to fuss with your case for awhile. Unless you bug them on a regular basis they’ll let years drag on before it gets settled.

If you’ve entrusted your case to one of the larger Legal Beagle dog houses in town (a big mistake) you’ve probably been passed on to a fumbling puppy just out of law school. Huge firms handle thousand’s of top-dollar cases. Yours will be on a slow assembly line with that puppy sniffin’ at pant legs and nippin’ at heels, acting as though he knows what he’s doing. You gotta stay close because the youngster you’ve been stuck with has little experience and he usually doesn’t have the foggiest idea how to properly handle your claim.

How To Avoid Buying A Lemon When You Buy A Car

Buying a new car is a heavy investment, and a car’s purpose is basically to take you from one destination to the next safely and fast, and comfortably. As it is a big investment in terms of money, the first consideration when you wish to buy a new car is to determine a market value on the vehicle.

To do this, check out the prices of the vehicle you are looking at. This can be done initially by checking web sites of car vendors. While car manufacturers have websites, you would either be dealing with the dealers or showrooms, and it makes sense for you to check the websites of notable dealers of the brand of car you are looking at.

The Car Insurance Calculation Explained

Different companies will apply different factors to the way they finally arrive at a price for your Car Insurance.  Generally speaking though the concept is the same.  This involves collecting various bits of information from you and feeding it through a computer system which adds or takes away money depending on the answers you give.

The value put on these answers is decided by the individual Car Insurance company.

Drive Slower, Save the Planet!

The environment is a hot issue that we just can’t afford to ignore any longer. To some, being environmentally aware is a way of life, a necessary and fundamental aspect of existence. To others being ‘green’ is something to aspire to, a lifestyle that with a bit of guidance could be achievable.

Young people have been brought up in a culture of ecological revelations, such as the depletion of the ozone layer and melting polar ice caps. We all know that these things are still happening yet we’ve still got a long way to go before the impacts of modern society on our planet are decelerated. Our parents weren’t particularly clued up about the effect that peoples’ actions have on their environment and recycling was certainly never an option in many houses in the 80s and 90s. However, these days we do have the resources and the knowledge to make little changes that can improve the planet for the better. If we can slow down on the road then we might be able to slow down climate change.

Bet Your Life On An Air Bag

For many years the seat belt was relied upon for safety in automobiles. Many people debated whether seat belts were safe or not but over time many states made wearing seat belts mandatory. Statistics have proven that seat belts have saved lives in accidents everywhere. The safety belt is now mandatory, due to a primary or secondary law, in all states except New Hampshire. With most everyone now agreeing to the benefits of using a seat belt, carmakers have stepped up their safety standards to use technology to its advantage and developed air bags.

In the 1980’s the first air bag appeared in automobiles. In 1998 all new cars were required to have frontal air bags on both driver and passenger sides. Lighter weight trucks, such as pickups, vans and SUVs, were required in 1999 to have frontal air bags installed.

The Eye Witness To Your Getting Creamed

Thirty four years ago, in a book I wrote and was published, entitled, How To Settle Your Own Insurance Claim, I stated: “An eye witness can make or break your case. If you’ve been able to keep your wits about you the first thing you should do, immediately after impact has occurred, is to find somebody who observed it. After having spotted such a person, don’t be bashful. Go right over to them and ask if they saw the accident ? If they did, jot down their name, address and telephone number. Should they drive away before you can zero in on them, make note of their motor vehicle’s registration number so you can later obtain their name through the department of motor vehicle office.”

What I wrote, over thirty years ago, remains true today. (As a matter of fact, when it comes to insurance claims, little has changed over he past sixty years)! Companies like Rock Solid Insurance Corporation are still raising rates into the stratosphere while crying in their suds about all the money claims are costing them and those employed by them are still taking advantage of every motor vehicle accident victim they can sink their claws into.

What Is Auto Insurance and What Does It Cover?

Every person who drives a car needs the protection that auto insurance can give. If you are involved in an accident in a way that make you responsible for any damage of another person or vehicle the insurance will protect you from financial ruin. All states in America require drivers to maintain liability insurance for their auto. However, this coverage does not provide much protection outside of making sure that if you should be at-fault with another driver that your insurer will step up to bat and pay the bill.

But what if you and your vehicle is damaged, will the insurance cover the expenses? There are a wide very of other coverages available, some that benefit you and some that are rarely used and probably covered by other services you already subscribe to.

How To Save Big Money On Your Car, Truck or SUV

With the current price of gas at over $3 a gallon, the economy in a downturn, and no relief in site, we need to start conserving and saving everywhere we can. The car is a great place to start. Here are some tips from the National Institute on Highway Safety:

Don’t take unnecessary risks. You can get in an accident and get hurt and you can also get a ticket, fine or worse. Speeding greatly increases the odds of an accident. It also increases fuel consumption and can result in a ticket. A speeding ticket alone can cost over $200 in fines and court costs easily plus there is added insurance points and costs which can easily cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Basically, do not speed as it will cost more than you realize.

New Car Registrations and Car Insurance

In September 2001 the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) introduced a new number plate registration system that was designed to last for 49 years.  The new change was welcomed not only by the car dealers but also by the car insurance industry as the DVLA also decided to issue new car registrations twice a year instead of once a year.In the past, new registrations were issued on 1st August every year.  Inevitably this caused a major headache for insurance companies as so many people required insurance at this time.  This once a year rush for insurance was compounded by the summer timing when most people, including insurance company employees, go on holiday.  Today, the new registrations are issued in March and September.  This eases the workload for insurance companies and allows them to more easily staff up for the increase in calls.Of course, the old system ran for about 38 years and so there is still a large population of people who require insurance renewal on 1st August.  So around July, August and September, Insurance companies are still especially busy and you can generally expect long call centre waits with a lot of direct companies.Using the internet instead is a much easier and quicker way of getting your new car insurance quote.  Accept Direct have a very fast online quote system which cuts out the need of waiting for a call centre person to answer.  The Accept Direct website is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and will deliver you a competitive quote in minutes. So whether you’re looking for a cheap insurance quote for your brand new car or would like to get a low cost renewal, just go to the Accept Direct website at and save yourself some time and money.

For some drivers, their cars have become money pits. Higher fuel prices have been the monkey wrench that has spoiled many a motorists driving experience. No longer can any of us count on cheap fuel, high gasoline prices are here to stay. However, you can save money on your overall car expenses and restore your driving pleasure quickly. Here are some tips to guide you along the way:

Regular Gas v. Premium Gas — Very few vehicles built today require premium gasoline. Thanks to knock sensors, which adjust the mixture of air and fuel to your engine, many cars can run on “87” octane fuel v. “91” octane fuel. By selecting the cheaper priced grade of fuel, you can save a nice amount of money over one year’s time.
