If you are looking for a car audio system and would love to save a little money when purchasing, you should consider buying a used system. Many people think you can only get quality sound from new equipment, but that is not true. You can find great packages that are sold directly from another consumer if you know what you are looking for. There are a few things to remember before making a purchase however. If you are considering buying a used system, think about these things before you throw down any cash.
The first thing to consider is what you need. You should always be aware of what your automobile can handle before purchasing a used system. When you go to a store to purchase new equipment, the salesperson usually assists you on knowing what you need. When you are purchasing from a consumer however, you may not be getting correct information. Since most consumers won’t offer a refund policy, you will need to know that the equipment will work on your car before buying it.
Are you in search of a good amplifier? Then I would suggest you check out the JL car audio 500/1 amplifier. This amplifier is very efficient and will give little, if any, reason to worry. Here is something more about this product.
It is a class D amplifier. What does this mean? It means that it belongs to the class of highly efficient amplifiers that are up to 90% power efficient. This is a great advantage as it means your battery will not be easily run down. It makes the most efficient use of power when compared to other amplifier classes. And for your car, this is an invaluable feature.
Do you own a leased car, truck or SUV, but aren’t quite happy with the dealer-installed sound system? Would you like to have a video system in your leased vehicle, but are deterred by the expensive costs of the DVD player and overhead drop-down screens offered by the dealership. In the past, if you were unhappy with the entertainment system in your leased vehicle, you either had to accept the system as it was or pay to have it customized to your preferred taste and then pay once again for the original equipment to be reinstalled before returning your leased vehicle to the dealership. On top of that, if your custom installer did not restore all of the original equipment to make it look as if nothing had been changed, the dealer would tack on yet another fee.
This situation is obviously very reasonable unless you really love a quality automotive entertainment center and you have plenty of money to burn. Luckily, over the past few years, there have been products to hit the market that directly meet the needs of those who own leased vehicles and also enjoy the benefits of a quality sound and video system in their vehicle.
Let’s face it, by now who doesn’t own some sort of MP3 player? Whether it is an IPOD or a less popular MP3 player made by manufacturers such as Sony or Creative Labs, everyone that I know has an MP3 player (except for my grandmother, who still doesn’t know what an MP3 is anyway). Regardless of the brand, to be able to use any type of MP3 player, you must have MP3s to upload and listen to on your MP3 player.
That being the case, many people prefer purchasing single MP3s from sites like iTunes and Napster versus paying ten dollars or more to purchase an entire CD which only contains one or two songs that the individual likes. With all of the MP3s that people have amassed over the few years that they’ve been extremely popular, it now presents somewhat of a dilemma when they want to play the MP3s they’ve collected in their car audio system. For those who have a standard in-dash CD player or CD changer, the only solution is to burn the MP3s onto a recordable CD and play the CD in the car. This solution can be both costly and time consuming if you are constantly updating your MP3 collection as you have to continuously buy blank CDs and go through the CD burning process each time you want to play a new collection of MP3s in your car. Thankfully there are several products on the market these days to give MP3 owners more options when it comes to playing their MP3s in the car.
You have chosen your new car stereo and now it is time to install. The final result will depend on the quality of the installation. It won’t matter how expensive your car stereos system is if you do not install it correctly. Your speaker sound will depend on the amplifier and the type of enclosure. Your amplifier will depend on the current, and the current will depend on the alternator and the wiring. Mistakes will leave you with disappointing results. Here are a few tips that will make the installation of your car stereos system a success:
The first thing you should do is determine the location of the speakers. Speaker location is the key to quality sound. The distance between the left and right speakers and the distance between the left and right ears is not always the same. Try to make the difference between the left and right speakers as little as possible. You may have better luck if you place the speakers on the floor, but you do run the risk of the sound seemingly coming from below. The location of your speakers is imperative to the sound quality you get from your car stereo. When installing your car stereos system, place the speakers temporarily in various locations to find the perfect sound before you install them permanently.

Every car owner wants a car audio system. Some are satisfied with low-end models but others are always on the lookout for latest technologies. Most of us look for the best deals on quality and price. Discount car audio systems can be found at auctions, secondhand and online stores. Some suppliers offer discounts if you are willing to forgo certain frills like a warranty. Money can also be saved if you install the system on your own instead of hiring someone to it. With so many brands and types of car audio systems to choose from, consumers have many options while the manufacturers face competition to sell their products at attractive prices.
One of the easiest ways to get discounted products is through popular shopping websites like eBay. Manufacturers promote their products through discounts. At times, they offer great deals like buy-one-get-one-free, or cash discounts.
Custom subwoofer enclosures are for when you want to put some subwoofers into your car but don’t want to run stock boxes. By a stock box, I mean one that either comes with your subwoofer or simply one where you can only fit one 12″ sub.
If you buy two 12″ subs, or perhaps two 10″ subs for instance, you’ll likely either have to build your own box or get someone to build you one. It’s important to remember every subwoofer has an “optimal” subwoofer box size in order to maximize clarity and sound performance. You can check the manufacturer’s website of your subwoofer to see what this optimal size is.

Build quality:
Some head units are flimsy and weak. Some are built to last. Usually the best way to determine this is by the weight of the unit. Also, check to see if anything doesn’t “fit”, or if there are parts that are cheap or flimsy. The truth is this: The bigger name units tend to be better. Also, the more expensive units tend to be better. This isn’t always a big deal for everyone, but I believe that build quality is very important. Afterall, do you want to spend $100 for a cheap unit that will last two or three years, or $600 on a unit that will last for 20 years?
OK, here’s the deal: If you want to build a quality stereo system, SOUND DEADENING IS NOT OPTIONAL; IT IS MANDATORY.
Why is that?
