Never Remove The Radiator Cap On A Hot Engine - It Could Send You To The Hospital

Many years ago engine water pumps ran full time, pumping the water through the engine block but not through the radiator. Thermostats in the top of the radiator contained a spring-loaded valve, the spring being made of two dissimilar metals (bi-metallic, just like the ones in your home) and when the temperature got to 180o, the metals would expand, open up the valve, and permit the water pump to start pumping the water though the radiator where the onrushing air due to the vehicle’s motion would cool the water and keep its temperate at 180o. That means the coolant water in the radiator was not boiling, and it was safe to take off the cap. The radiator, if vented to the atmosphere, was prevented from building up any internal pressure because no boiling took place.

Imagine this experiment Take a glass of boiling water and set it on the sink top when the house is at 70o temperature. Time how long it takes to cool down.

Chevy Camaro: Build It and We Will Buy It!

Attention, General Motors! The concept Camaro now making the rounds of U.S. auto shows is a real winner. Keep showing the car, but start making plans to get it built…now! Make no changes to the concept; in other words: keep the boardroom geeks away from the project. Yes, GM is looking at bringing back a venerable nameplate – the Chevrolet Camaro. If all goes as planned, a 2009 model Camaro is a strong possibility. Read on for additional interesting tidbits.

Back in the late 1960s, General Motors responded – albeit a little late – to the wildly successful 1964 1/2 launch of the Ford Mustang. A whole new breed of cars were on the market – pony cars – thanks to the Mustang and GM’s release of the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. Indeed, Chrysler and American Motors jumped in too with the Dodge Charger, Plymouth Road Runner, and AMC Javelin competing successfully in a popular automobile segment.

Consumers, Start Your Engines: There is Still Time to Get a Great Deal on a New Car

From now until the end of 2005, buying a new car will cost less with low interest rates and buyer incentives.

With interest rates still at historical lows, buying a new car is an attractive option. Even though the Feds have raised the interest rates several times over the past eighteen months, they are still lower than they were in the 90s and are certainly at a favorable rate for great financing. Someone with good to excellent credit who is looking to purchase a new vehicle should do so now, before the rates go higher.

What to Look at Before Purchasing a New Car

So, you’re looking at purchasing a new car. Sure you probably have a wish list with few models in mind, but which one to choose from? With oil prices soaring and the prices of everything on the rise with not nearly good enough pay increases, we all want to get the best for our money and be happy with the purchase made right? We all want reliability, low maintenance costs, and above all great fuel economy. Is that too much to ask? The best way to accomplish all this is by being an informed buyer!

First we start with make and model. As stated above, you are looking for what fits you the best, personality, reliability, low maintenance costs, safety, and above all great fuel economy. You may have a few models in mind that are made by different manufacturers. There are websites that you can visit and compare more than one manufacturer all at the same time (www.edmunds.com, www.carsmart.com, autos.msn.com, carfax , www.iihs.org). My personal favorite site is www.consumerreports.org. This site is not free, but it is inexpensive to join ($26 per year or $4.95 per month) and it is handy for researching many other consumer products than cars! These sites (as well as others out there) can provide you with invaluable groundwork to make a final decision on one model. Keep in mind that with brand new models, these sites will often have incomplete data as they have not received crash test data etc from government agencies etc.

Calculate Lease payments…it’s easier than you think

There is no uniform method in the car industry to calculate lease payments because many car manufacturers develop their own mathematics to calculate lease payments. Don’t Get Burned Buying A Car

1. USE DAYLIGHT. Inspect the car in natural light as it provides the best light for you to catch any scratches and dents. Be leery if the seller insists you inspect the car in the evening or under florescent light.

2. RUST. Look for rust spots on the car…especially under the hood in the engine bay, under the car, and on the inside of the doors.

Before You Purchase A New Car Watch Out For These Scams!

Purchasing a new automobile is hard enough without having to deal with the sales pressure from a car salesman. It’s no big secret that almost every car dealership can be talked down on the initial price they want for a car. The key is to know what scams to watch out for in order to maximize your hard earned dollar. This article details a few sales tactics that you may want to be on the lookout for the next time you purchase a new automobile.

The first money wasting scam deals with etching the vehicle’s VIN# on the window. In some cases a dealership will try to make you pay for this added feature. Please don’t fall for this trick. No lender will require you to pay for any extra options that you don’t require. To be honest all they really care about is whether or not your payments are on time.
