Why Checking Your Own DMV Driving Record is Important

There is a Department of Motor Vehicles (the DMV) in most states. This Department is usually responsible for issuing driving licences, maintaining up-to-date driving records including speeding tickets / violation details, DUI records and vehicle registration and vehicle history details. Many DMV web sites now allow you to renew vehicle registration, renew driver’s license, create and purchase license plates, replace driver’s license, purchase an identification card and offer many other services. Someone’s driving record contains a history of their suspensions, violations and other details. Employers and insurance companies often make use of a driving record to make decisions on insurance rates or employment background checks. It’s important that you check your own driving record from time to time to ensure it does not contain incorrect information. Background checks on potential employees are becoming more and more frequent. If you are an employer it’s sensible to include a driving record check as part of any employment background screening procedure. The DMV or RMV (Register of Motor Vehicles) usually deals with the states register of motor vehicles A cars vehicle history should detail if it is reported stolen, been in an accident, any reported odometer fraud, and any reported flood and fire damage. If you are looking to buy a used car then vehicle history records can prove an invaluable resource to background check your potential purchase. A few years back, the only people who had access to this type of personal information were licensed private investigators, police detectives and the federal government. Now with the newly passed laws and databases available you can investigate and examine most driving records including criminal offenses on practically anyone - job applicants, potential dates, neighbors, lost relatives, friends, or more importantly perhaps your own. Just a brief check on the web reveals many such services. Remember it’s always wise to check out which of these services are reputable before giving your personal details.

Are Radar Detectors Legal in the US and in Which States are They Prohibited?

A good number of the people with cars in the United States have their own radar detectors. Their reason is that they feel that the speed limit at present is very low. Most of the American people are not satisfied with moderate speed while driving. They want to be the fastest driver on the road as well as get to the places they’re going in record time; they want to be always in the race.

The radar detector serves as their alarm whenever there are police near them. Once the radar detector alarm sounds, they can ease off the gas and slow down their speed.

There are four main methods for dealing with rusty metal including: mechanical removal (grinding, sand-blasting, etc.), specialty paints, acids, and chemical converters. With the exception of chemical conversion, most procedures for removing rust involve dangerous toxic chemicals or require special equipment.

Mechanical Removal One of the most common methods of removing rust is by the use of grinders, wire brushes, sandpaper, and sand blasting. These mechanical methods physically remove the rust from the metal surface. For minor rust, sandpaper will effectively remove rust.

In the Beginning: Mercury Automobiles

Mercury was established in 1939 as a brand within the Ford Motor Company. Originally, the idea was to create a car that fell between the popular, low-priced Ford and the luxury model. To do this, they came up with the Mercury Marauder.

In the 1960’s an enthusiasm for race car driving was sweeping the nation. Realizing this, Mercury decided to take its cars to stock car racing. With top drivers behind the wheel like Parnelli Jones, the newly christened Mercury Marauder hit the circuit. In 1963, the Marauder won eight stock car titles and other racing awards.

Pro’s and Con’s of Daytime Running Lights

Daytime Running Lights; a popular subject. The pro’s and cons of daytime running lights (DRL’s)have been discussed many times. Do a search on Google and over 300000 links turn up. In Canada they have been mandatory since 1989. Many European countries have had legislation in place as far back as 1977. Till today the US of A has no laws in place that make DRL’s mandatory, although all American car manufacturers utilize the module.

In my humble opinion DRL’s were installed to make a motorist more visable during daytime hours. Any off you must have had the experience once when trying to pass somebody you are starting to pull out and at the same time notice a car coming in the distance. The car did not have any lights. If it had you would not even have tried to pass. One point for DRL’s.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser: Breaking the Styling Mold

Toyota’s growing popularity hasn’t been without controversy. No, the automaker doesn’t have much of a quality issue to contend with and, no Toyota isn’t likely to begin losing market share anytime soon. Yet, there is one area where the Japanese automaker has a bit of a perception problem and that has to do with styling. Of course Toyota vehicles aren’t ugly but there are few models being built today that are truly exciting. All that is now beginning to change as Toyota releases several head turning models including the latest rendition of its popular Camry sedan and one of its newest models, the FJ Cruiser. Keep reading and we’ll take a glance at just how Toyota is breaking one mold by breaking new ground.

Maybe it was the success of the Nissan Xterra or perhaps it was the desire to recapture past glory [or something in between] but Toyota’s decision to build the FJ Cruiser may not have been an easy one. With a line up filled with various trucks and SUVs, the proposed FJ Cruiser would not only be competing against the Jeeps and Land Rovers of the world, but with some of its own models including the car based Highlander and the versatile, truck based 4Runner. Still, the model was thought to stand a chance for two reasons: the FJ Cruiser is a retro-styled vehicle taking its design cues from the FJ40 of the 1960s/1970s and for its 5 passenger seating capacity: just the right sized vehicle that consumers would want to take off roading.
