Groups Support Creation Of Plug-In Hybrids

If you remember the documentary “Who Killed The Electric Car?”, then you would probably have even thought that maybe hybrid vehicles and plug-in vehicles may have suffered a really terrible death. But you see, perhaps because of such a documentary, many individuals, organizations, and groups have already decided that it would be best if we all did support the creation, designing, and production of hybrid vehicles that can be plugged in. Two groups which are currently showing great support for such a move include AutoNation, Inc. and Plug-In Partners. And they also are having a campaign wherein they are asking vehicle manufacturers to start producing such a special and helpful kind of vehicle.

Mike Jackson, the current chief executive officer of AutoNation, does say, “The development of plug-in hybrids could reduce America’s addiction to oil. These new hybrids would offer consumers a fifty mile all electric range, get the equivalent of 100 miles per gallon, be fully recharged at night and deliver all the performance and comfort of traditional gasoline powered vehicles without the damaging emissions. We believe Americans will buy these vehicles, which is why we want to sell them.”

To jump start a vehicle with a discharged battery, park the booster vehicle close to the one that needs a little charge. However, make sure that the vehicles are not touching in any way. Also, make sure that you would be using a good set of jumper cables, thick wires, and clean clamps. When hooking the jumper cables, make sure that the cables do not dangle into the engine compartment. Turn off the ignition of both vehicles. Put on the parking brakes. For automatic transmission vehicles, set on “Park”. For manual ones, set on “Neutral”. Make sure that all other things are turned off like lights, radio, flashers, etc.

Looking Forward for the Dodge Caliber

Starting next year, 2007, Daimler Chrysler would be sending off on the streets and roads the new Dodge Caliber. This vehicle is a compact car and it would be coming with a hatchback body style. Aside from that, it would hold five doors. This vehicle has been built on the Mitsubishi/Daimler Chrysler GS platform, and for this very reason, it has been said that this vehicle is very much related to the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot. When it starts to hit the streets, the Dodge Neon would be mainly competing against the Chevrolet HHR, the Ford Focus, the Toyota Matrix, the Mazda Mazda3, and the Pontiac Vibe.

The Dodge Caliber would eventually be replacing the Dodge Neon come the time it hits the streets. More or less, the size of this vehicle would be just like the Dodge Neon’s. The 2005 Geneva Motor Show became the avenue for Dodge to introduce this compact vehicle to the automobile market. The Dodge Caliber holds a crosshair grille as well as large wheel arches that are very much the common features of Daimler Chrysler vehicles. If you are interested in purchasing one, then you should be willing to pay up some $13,985 for this.

The Benefits of Airbags

Airbags have been all made available for many vehicles for a long time running. In fact, the United States government has made sure that these would be made standard for vehicles. This has become reality for in July 11, 1984, the US government has already required all cars to airbags for the driver’s side at least. Come 1998, it was later on mandated that all vehicles should contain airbags in the front end of the vehicle.

Insurance agencies and companies have come up with results that drivers and passengers who would like to have greater protection during crashes would benefit greatly from side airbags. In fact, this is just a recent study and was reported only last April 15, 2006. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has also found that, indeed, these side airbags have been beneficial and really helpful during side impact crashes.

Introducing the Dodge Caliber!

The auto world is abuzz over a new car just recently released. The Dodge Caliber, a five door hatchback replacement for the popular Neon, has finally hit North American showrooms. The wait has been long especially since the last Neons were built for the 2005 model year. Still, judging by the press hoopla and by what the car has to offer, the pause certainly has been well worth it. Introducing, the 2007 Dodge Caliber!

Part of the buzz surrounding any new car introduction is all the speculation that comes with it. Pictures are released, performance information and specifications supplied, and in some cases the pending model hits the auto show circuit first to fuel additional interest. All of these points have rung true for the Caliber as the pre-release build up was percolating for a number of months. On a personal note, I was able to see a Caliber at a recent car show but I couldn’t get near it as there were too many people gawking ahead of me — such was the interest in the new model. Nevertheless, there are some things about the Caliber worthy of a mention:

Chrysler 300C: The Stretched Version

As automakers go, developing well received models is a chore all by itself. When a model becomes a hit, as has the Chrysler 300C, the result is favorable press coverage, high customer satisfaction ratings, and a “halo” effect that can extend to the entire product line. Chrysler’s 300C is a hit, but the German-American automaker isn’t stopping there. A stretched version of the car is being developed, one that may find a following amongst enthusiasts, but only if the price is right.

So, why would DaimlerChrysler authorize a stretched version of the 300C? For several reasons including:

Tire Sizes

What are they? – If you’re like most people, or maybe like myself, the way you choose what new tires you should purchase for your car is by reading the label on the side of your existing car tires. After comparing the prices of the compatible tires with the amount of money in your tire budget, then a choice can be made. But is it the correct choice? If you have no idea what the label on your tire means or what your purchasing, you could then be left out of a whole new world of tire options and accessories.

A typical car tire label reads like this “P185/60R 14 82H”. In this care label description, there is an abundance of information. But it doesn’t do you any good if you haven’t the slightest idea of what it all means. So, this guide to car tire language can come in handy on your next trip to the auto store.
