It’s time to face facts. Your stalwart friends have carried you for thousands of kilometres, through thick and thin, through heat and snow, but they are reaching the end of their life. The end of their life as automobile tires anyway.

The amount of tires that reach the end of their life every year is truly staggering. Exact numbers aren’t currently available, but if you piled up every tire discarded in North America rest assured that you would have a really, really big pile of tires. Some estimates says that every year one tire gets to the end of the road for every man, woman, and child on the continent.

Price for 2007 Toyota Corolla Already Out

Toyota's Corolla line of vehicles has been and still is one of the most popular cars in the auto market. As for the next year, the MSRP, or the manufacturer's suggested retail price, for the new and renewed 2007 Toyota Corolla has already been announced by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. This 2007 Toyota Corolla has been proclaimed to be a carryover from 2006 model year. Come August this year, the 2007 Toyota Corolla would be available in dealerships around the country. The 2007 Toyota Corolla is a part of the ninth generation of Toyota Corollas. The very first Toyota Corolla was produced in the year 1966. The car became a success that now, this vehicle is being produced in various countries around the world that includes Japan, United States, Canada, India, Brazil, Philippines, Venezuela, United Kingdom, China, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, and Pakistan.

What to do with all these discarded is a bit of a head ache. Throwing them in landfills is simply wasteful. Not only do they take up landfill space we cannot afford to use, but tires are packed with energy and valuable plastics that present recycling techniques can help to reclaim.

Depending on how badly worn your tires are, you may be able to sell them to a used tire shop. If this is not an option, you may want to visit http://www.catraonline.ca/.

This is the site of the Canadian Association of Tire Recycling Agencies (CATRA). Formed in 1999, CATRA’s goal is to enhance scrap tire recycling across Canada and help keep tires out of landfills.

People often forget that recycling is just one way to keep stuff out of landfills. When it comes to tires, it is also possible to reuse them. We’ve already covered selling them, but if the tires are too worn this is not possible. However, there are other ways to reuse your old tires.

If you have enough used tires, you can build a house. Seriously. They are called Earthships, and they are environmentally friendly, not to mention beautiful, self-sufficient, and cheap to build.

2008 Chery QQ: Sneak Peak!

China's Chery Automotive Group is getting set to import as many as five vehicles into the US starting in the summer of 2007. These 2008 models are reportedly going to be cheaper than competing models in their respective classes, undercutting some models by as much as $10,000 per car. I have been doing a little investigating and have learned more about the Chery QQ, the three door compact that will retail for just $6995. Hold onto your hats as I read off the long list of standard features for its incredible, low price. Just when you think you have seen everything, along comes the QQ. Reportedly, QQ stands for Quality and Quick as the car is made from remnants of destroyed Soviet tanks that battled with China during a protracted border skirmish in 1970. In addition, the car zips from 0 to 48 before the engine craps out. Oh, well zero to sixty would have been nice, but alas...

If building an entire house seems a bit ambitious, then another option is to cut the tire in half like a biscuit. This makes a handy backyard water trough for your family dog. Painted, it makes an unusual planter for bedding plants.

Tires are hard to dispose of because they are very durable. But it is this very durability that makes them useful in a variety of outdoor applications. With a little creativity and effort you can keep them out of landfills and use them to make something beautiful.

A Guide to Trailer Hitch Covers

Parts of most trailer hitches are removable. The ball part of the hitch, the part that is used to fasten the cargo to the truck usually rests in the trailer hitch receiver opening. When the ball is removed, the receiver opening is left hollow. This opening protrudes from the tail of the truck and has sharp edges. People could bump into the metal rod or cut themselves on its sharp corners. It is a good idea to use a trailer hitch cover to protect the trailer hitch receiver opening. Trailer hitch covers can cover the opening and keep any debris from clogging it. Trailer hitch covers also protect people from cutting themselves or bumping into the hard edges.
